How to make a cold brew tea ?
In the hot summer months, the best way to cool down is to enjoy cold-brewed tea.Follow the step below :
- put a suitable amount of ice cubes into the bottle
- add 3-5 grams tea leaves, and cover them with ice cubes once again.
- pour cool spring or mineral water into the bottle until it is 80% full.
- Allow the tea to steep for 3-4 hours before indulging in its refreshing and sweet taste.
What are the benefits of cold-brewed tea?
- Cold-water brewing reduces the amount of tannins released from tea leaves, resulting in less bitterness and a more full-bodied flavor, enhancing the overall taste experience.
- Cold-brewed tea can protect the delicate cell structures of the tea leaves from damage due to high water temperature, allowing for the maximum preservation of beneficial compounds in tea.
- Tea has been shown to help manage diabetes due to the presence of polysaccharides that can remove excess sugar from the bloodstream. Cold-brewed tea is a better choice than hot-brewed tea if the goal is to maintain the integrity of the polysaccharides.
- Cold-brewed tea is a great option for tea lovers who are sensitive to caffeine or concerned about sleeplessness as it reduces the amount of caffeine released from tea leaves during brewing.
- Cold-brewed tea is also a convenient option for on-the-go hydration and easy to prepare, requiring only a few minutes and basic ingredients such as tea leaves and ice-cold mineral water.
Tips for cold-brewed tea :
The longer the fermentation time, the higher the level of phosphorus and the more bitter the tea may taste. Therefore, low-fermentation teas like green tea and oolong tea are more suitable for cold-brewing, while high-fermentation teas like black tea, Tie Guan Yin, and Pu-erh tea are not recommended. In addition, cold-brewed tea should be consumed as soon as possible after brewing and not left for an extended period.
