It is porcelain so you must know that porcelain likes to be hand cleaned and wiped. Use regular detergent will not be enough. You have to polish it with something like a magic eraser. Do not use brill for steel wool. You can also use bleach.

It will need regular cleaning.

I picked this Gaiwan up as I had inadvertently forgotten to order one when getting a bunch of traditional tea making tools from a Chinese tea shop. As nice as the pieces are from China, this absolutely fits in with the rest of my selections and produces lovely tea as well. I’ve gotten used to how to hold it to properly serve tea that has been washed from as little as 10 seconds to as much as a minute. This Gaiwan pours very well and is comfortable to hold in one hand when dispensing tea. Highly recommend this if you’re looking to do traditional Chinese tea preparation!

After going through various gaiwans I came across this gem that ticks all the right boxes and more. Starting with it's design of a tall body with a proportional opening allows for a very controlled steady flow of tea. The lid grips the opening to prevent slippage, and the lid handle is near perfect height to allow for a tight grip. The outer texture is there of dry clay, and becomes smoother the more you ha for it over time.This Gaiwan should set the standard of what makes a Gaiwan so good.
